How long should anticoagulation be continued after the first unprovoked VTE?


The risk of recurrent venous thromboembolism (VTE) appears to increase over time once anticoagulation is stopped in patients with their first unprovoked VTE, with recurrent rates ranging from 10% in the first year up to 36% at 10 years, according to results of a new analysis published in BMJ.
