American Academy of Pediatrics updates drugs in breastfeeding recommendations

In an updated guidance on medication use during breastfeeding, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended that practitioners rely primarily on the online LactMed database for current drug safety information. Authors also provided updated recommendations for selected topics, including use of vaccines; psychiatric, pain, and herbal medications during lactation; and addiction treatment.
