Updated blood pressure guideline released

KEY POINT

An updated blood pressure (BP) guideline released by the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and American Heart Association (AHA) task force eliminates the prehypertension classification, focuses on BP assessments in various settings, highlights the importance of nonpharmacological interventions, and recommends a BP goal of less than 130/80 mm Hg for all patients, including ambulatory, community-dwelling older adults (≥65 y).
